It would be nice to be able to select a foe from a series of aggro mobs in melee.
It happens occasionally when working in aggro wander mob areas, you'll get a bunch of nuisance mobs aggro on you and then a boss wanders at you later in the stack. A classic example of this is Rhyoden.
It would be cool to be able to shift melee focus to whatever mob you desire, much like a gorder.

I guess the focus ability is already used in the sohei class, my bad. Just re-started playing the sohei class... and in fact, might have played sohei before focus was implemented. I don't remember it.
Anyway, instead of FOCUS, the skill might be better named ENGAGE, so
engage 2.elite
i would think there would be a single round melee lag when disengaging from the current target.
since we don't take into consideration terrain, that is melee in an open field vs. melee in a tight hallway, we can't get too specific about melee order and arrangement. perhaps this is an opportunity to take the circle implementation of terrain tags into consideration in melee.
for example, if you're in the pyramid, in the tight crawlway, you could never be attacked by more than one mob anyway. mobs would queue in "terrain-restricted" instances. however in large field, say goth camps, you could be under attack by many assailants... but perhaps only up to six at a time, if you want to consider spatial arrangement as in hex-based combat. obviously your ac would only apply to those mobs in front of you when dealing with mobs that are attacking behind you.
this is a larger melee issue, certainly, but if you want to add some more opportunity for class ability expansion, this skill would serve a purpose now, and in the future, should large and small scale melee be addressed with terrain and battle formation.

Yeah, as I suspected, the sohei class has undergone a major revision since i played it when featured the awesome energy drain, but was basically a hack of the mage class.
I like the current implmentation, but instead of sucking down mana for focusing skills, you should choose between mana and movement in order to help prolong the effects during long melee. putting some of the burden in movement would allow clerics to "heal" soheis with rejuv like clerics do rangers during skinning sessions.
