I wanted to start a thread on combat issues as people see them in the mud. Here's a few starters:
1) Innate abilities should not be hampered by the typical 3-round delay.
There is a 3 round delay when you start a fight (unless you start with a spell) prior to any innate abilities actually kicking in. Obviously, NONE of the sohei skills start working until you hit round three (Fists of Fury, Resilience, et et). Also, Double Hit from warriors does not kick in till round three. It doesn't make any sense that an innate ability should start firing from round ONE and should not be hampered by more than ONE round by the use of other skills (if at all). Ie- if you disarm a mob, you can't double hit from 3 rounds??? I think the intent was so that you couldn't run unlimited disarms on a mob every round. It shouldn't take more than 1 round to regain composure and start double hitting (innate skill). I realize it makes sense that no other command skills can be done for three rounds (including flee), but anything that fires automatically should be INDEPENDENT of whatever else is going on.
I'd love to hear some arguments for/against this type of thought-line, as well as other in game combat type issues.
