As so many of the youth in the land, and some older less wise elders, are in need of more patience. I have decided to hold a quest for an item called 'patience'. The quest is to come up with the item's description. 1) description when worn/held (used) 2) description in inventory 3) description when laying on the ground. Also the stats for the item, and what 'slot' it would be used as. You not only have to come up with the above, but also a bit of a 'story' for how the item came to be. This project will be 'judged' by Ching. I will hand out a prize to the winner, either an item of my choosing, or "best of 30 rerolls" on one character, or something (depending on what I can get approved.). It will depend totally upon the results of the submissions, and how much effort and the 'results' of the output.. Post your ideas here on this web thread, so they are ranked by 1st post 1st in. I am hoping that this will encourage others to build upon previous ideas. P.S. I will leave this quest open until April 4th. Then I will not accept more submissions.

Already the questions. This can be a simple item, like the 'clue' which was put into the game (ask a 1st level Bard to get you one.) Or a large complex assembly item. It is totally up to the designer of the item, and my judging of the winner.

Ages ago before history was written there was a god named Raz'nar. Son of Great Lord Arth'hul. Raz'nar was not like the other gods though he did not have patience at things like the other gods did. He was constantly being tricked and teased by his peers. One day he finally got fed up and decided he would plot to bring pain and suffering to everyone arround him. He would steal the patience of the mortals for himself. In order for his plan to work he had to create magical items that would have the power to steal the patience of another person. 100 years later Raz'nar had finally figured out what to make in order to steal the patience of others. A Virtue stone to hold the power of patience, a Magical Stop-Watch to stop time, a Jar that could hold thoughts, and Magical Thread to Bind everything together into Timeless Satisfaction. Raz'nar Had succeeded! He could now steal the patience of other people. He started with mortals and it was working beutifully, the were running out of patience and he had nothing but more and more to gain. Soon what patience the mortals had was not enough and he turned to the gods. He approached his father first, The Great lord Arth'hul and his tricks did not work! His Father had already cought on to what he was doing. "BANISHMENT!" Arth'hul Screamed "I sentence you to Eternity in Prison!" The damage had already been done. Arth'hul and the Council of Greater Gods Banished Raz'nar into a Prison deep within the Core of Jedimud to never be heard of again. Arth'hul and the Council decided to give Patience back to the mortals by Sending the four magical items back out into the 4 corners of the world so that the mortals would learn patience so that they could recieve patience.

No stories behind it. It is just something would be nice to have it in Pagoda since people only go there for eqs when loaded. Maybe this will draw more people to there. It is the thing (Pu-Tuan) monks sit on when they meditate. And please do not call it pray rug. heh
Item: Pu-Tuan. Worn: A well used embroidered golden Pu-Tuan of Patience Inventory: A well used embroidered golden Pu-Tuan of Patience Ground: Some one has left his Pu-Tuan here for you.
Description: (roughly) This looks like something being used by the monks in the pagoda. As you look closer, you discover it bears the marking of Siddhartha Gautama. A man once known for his wisdom, patience and mercifulness. Maybe you could take advantage of such rare artifact.
Used: 1. Held OR 2. Stay in inventory like a device. Syntax can be used such as: Sit pu-tuan or sleep pu-tuan
Stats: +1 wis +1 Int Affects: If used as device it has similar regen effects as in regen rooms such as mid temple/nt inn etc
ML 10, !evil, Jedi/Paladin/Ranger/Bard only, 10 ac, weighs 20.
Loads randomly in lower pagoda, if the mob bears the item gets attacked, others will banzai.

First off, yes I know that this item as an assemble item seems close to impossible to make, as it has been pointed out damage on arms for bards is quest only. So to me if you want it earn it by having a bard in every college to run it.
Item: Composer’s Patience # of Items to make 6 I will specify which college, not a mob so it can be added to the game if it is chosen or even later if it not.
Items: #1 Eagle’s Feather Ground Desc: A simple eagle’s feather dripping in blood lies here Short Desc Eagle’s Feather Long Desc: A golden eagle feather with a long quill at the end lies here dripping blood it almost appears it never runs out of blood for some reason, could it be magical? Could it be used to write some mystical rune? Loads in First College (Unrentable)
#2 Pieces of Leather Ground Desc: Some simple pieces of leather lie tossed around on the ground here in a heap Short Desc: Pieces of leather Long Desc: Various pieces of leather seemed tossed around here; one even seems long enough to be used to bind a book of some type. Loads in Second College (Unrentable)
#3 Sheets of Dried Skin Ground Desc: Here lie what appear to be some sheets of paper made out of something… Short Desc: Sheets of Dried Skin Long Desc: You closely examine the sheets of paper and the texture just doesn’t appear right, what could this be made out of? Suddenly it dawns on you that it appears to be tightly stretched skin of something and just barely you can make out “Help Me” on it. Loads in Third College (Unrentable)
#4 Mystical Rune of an Ancient Bard Ground Desc: An ancient musical rune lies here humming to itself in the dirt. Short Desc Mystical Rune of an Ancient Bard Long Desc: This runes hums a magical song of peace and quiet, it instantly makes you think of a quiet day when nothing in the word could bother you no matter what is going on around you or who is bothering you. Loads in 4th College (Unrentable)
#5 Carved Leather Case Ground Desc: A carved leather case to house a book lies here in the dust. Short Desc: Carved Leather Case Long Desc: A black leather case carved into one piece to house a book or set of notes. You can tell by the small stitching and the precise workmanship that a lot of love and care went into carving this case. Loads in 5th College (Unrentable)
#6 Gold Hasp Ground Desc: A small gold hasp sparkles in the mud here… Short Desc: Gold Hasp Long Desc: A solid gold hasp meant to close or lock a book lies in your hand. It sparkles in the dieing light of the day and is carved with musical notes along it surface. Loads on one of the New Masters in the Expansion to Bardic (Unrentable)
All above items would be Trash Value 0
Item: Composer’s Patience Ground Desc A black book of music lies here on the ground collecting dust. Short Desc: Composer’s Patience Book Long Desc: This book is made of black leather with a gold hasp, made of dried skin in the age of darkness before other forms of written word exists, bound by leather strips, and written by an eagle’s feather of blood, this books supposedly contains the music of peace and patience. You can see a small leather strip wraps around the book meant to be tied to a person’s arm so it is not lost in travel. This book was the cause for the shattering of the Age of Darkness and the beginning of the Age of Jedi.
Worn: Arms AC: 5 Ac on Arms Restricts Bard Only ML 25 Stats: 1 Damage +5 Mana Regen
Story: It is rumored in the Age of Darkness that a composition was so strong that it shattered the darkness that started the Age of Jedi.
In the Age of Darkness before the days of Jedi a light sprang forth, in the darkness the creatures wondered what this new light could be, and small/large creatures of the night crept towards the new light, some to see what it would be, other to extinguish it and continue the Age of Darkness. As one mighty dragon approached the light before all others being the ruler of this realm, he heard some musical notes floating across the darkness. He roared his anger that this light carefree music would penetrate his realm and he charged into the light. Low and behold what did he find a small impish creature lightly drumming his hands across a lyre? The impish creature looked up with a smile at the Darkness descending upon him in the form of a dragon, he simply flipped his page and new music jumped forth from his harp encasing the dragon in music. The dragon passed through this music and low beholds Xenia the Silver Dragon was born upon the realm and the silver light shined forth for the first time. The imp lightly sprang to the dragon back and they set forth bringing light to the realm of darkness and where the music passed new light sprang forth into the darkness, most of these light creature were small and miniscule compared to the darkness, so they choose to ignore it. Slowly with patience and time the light pushed back the darkness and new beings were born the Elves of Jedi came into being, the Dwarves set up a might village, the shire stretched its wings and came into being. Darkness also knows patience and one thief skilled beyond all others realized how to defeat this new light. He stole forth on the darkest of nights all Hallow’s Eve and stole the book of light from the Impish creature, he quickly fled the scene with the powerful magic from Xenia in close pursuit, the thief was able to shatter the books into 6 pieces just as Xenia magic shattered the thief. Till recently the book was thought loss, now strange magic can be heard drifting through the bardic colleges bring peace and light within in its halls. Rumor is the book of patience is housed with in its mighty halls, what brave new adventurer will be able to assemble its pages and bring new light to the darkness slowly creepy forward into Jedi and restore its mighty ages.
Clues: Dean of College,
"Recently I keep hearing this peaceful music floating through the college, it first started after the new masters joined us, yet they claim they have never heard it, could be it be the strange pieces of the book of Composer's Patience have always been hidden in this hall with the new arrivals have awoken?"

The demon’s deep voice resonated harshly across the room, “It is all about inevitability brother.” “What do you mean?” The clearly younger demon replied. “Don’t you see? Their souls belong to me already.” The older one said, still with his back to the younger, staring through a window at the fiery darkness outside. “They can fight and they can resist as much as they want Eseval, but a lifetime of good means nothing when I finally get them.” Eseval put his right hand to his head, softly stroking his horn on that side. “I still do not get why you can be so confident. There are some that just will not budge; that man has saved them and they are resolute in their stance against us. It can take years just to make them even consider apathy, much less downright sin and…” A deep roaring laughter ripped across the room, cutting Eseval’s speech to a sudden end. The large demon put his hands to each side of the window, continuing to stare out. “Look at the ones we have taken already, look how many. Do you think this would be possible if we thought about their resistance. If we thought about him? This is a war Eseval and one must make sacrifices in war. He died for them – that was his sacrifice - and yet still they come to me. It may not be as quick as we like, but they come to me.” “Well then brother, all I can do is beg you to show me your ways.” Eseval said in a pleading voice. “Teach me your methods and I will make them stray as you do. I will bring them to you by the thousands.” “That is what I like to hear.” The demon replied, his back still to Eseval. “That is a better attitude to have brother, but I must tell you that you do not understand still. I have seen your work and your methods are effective. Your temptations instill doubt and drive cracks into the armor of their faith, but you allow those doubts to heal and you allow the cracks to reseal. You lack one virtue that it is impossible to succeed in our endevours without.” “Tell me what it is brother.” Eseval begged. “Do you see that soul?” The large demon said, pointing at a body writhing in agony and tied to a pillar, being whipped by three demons at the same time, while a fourth poured molten metal over his head. “Yes?” Eseval replied, giggling slightly. “Fifty years did it take me to get him, and even after that I feared he may turn back, and he almost did, but I never gave up, even when it seemed almost hopeless.” The large demon heaved a deep breath. “Fifty years but I never once doubted; I never once questioned the FACT that he would be mine. Do you see?” Eseval sighed softly. “No, not completely brother, what is it that you wish me to see?” Finally, Asmodeus turned his face from the window and stared at Eseval, and finally Eseval saw it – saw the trait that he was missing.
Asmodeus is in no mood for fun and games. He will wave his black-nailed fingers and simply reduce you to pond-scum. Asmodeus is in excellent condition.
Asmodeus is using: <worn about body> A shroud of Patience(glowing)
Stats: Evil only (duh) 1 WIS 3 Mana_regen, 0 ac ml 22
In Inventory: A shroud of Patience
Long Description (When looked at) Patience is a virtue. Wrapped before you, folded in and amongst the fibers of its own being; more an aura than a physical entity, is the very embodyment of this virtue. Each movement of the strands of this shroud represent years that are as seconds; infinity in a glimpse. He who wears this shroud hath the most divine trait.

Isn't the word 'patience' better served as the name of an Amish girl? Or an old Quaker woman stealing away to America in the 17th century?
I suspect a Christian plot to pacify the mud.
How about some sharp-edged metal poop named Horkondor: The Giant War Onagel of Death? Patience? Come on, man. You're getting old.

Dank, it sounds more puritanic than amish, though I could buy Quaker. Like Deliverance, Providence, Freegift, Beriah, etc. Deliverance was really popular 1640-1730. Rhode Island down to Freehold, New Jersey.

Dank >I suspect a Christian plot to pacify the mud. Pacify a hack and slash? Na I am the guy who wanted the other guards to kill thieves who stand there killing guards at the NT gates. Besides where would I be without the nice Luke 22:36.
In any case the inspiration for THIS particular quest was an impatient player. He said he wanted me to give him patience, as he had none, but we do not have it. This is the same kind of situation which led to the nice "obvious clue" in the bardic college. Besides I just thought you all would enjoy it. Give you some creative diversion, although only 4 people did anything with the guild shop submissions.

The old warrior stooped for merely a second to clean the edge of his blade then rose again striding forward in battle. Steel sinews rippling beneath his weathered skin, the Axe swung again for a killing strike. Seconds later the warrior is enveloped in white flame, leaving the worldly battle behind in brilliant flash of light...
Crossing the mortal barrier once again... impetuous in his efforts to achieve perfection and beyond. The 'gods' in their great wisdom forced this creature to bear the ever-mounting weight of a hundred lifetimes in the hopes of slowing his insatiable desire for power.
Over time this poor creature was admired and respected for his unyielding efforts to better himself and a sliver of hope was delivered to five creatures bound to the earthen plane. The item itself was created from the fury of his temper, the quickness of 'wrath', the speed of the 'gods', the weight of Gaea, and a dose of worldly wisdom. True adventurers young and old seek desperately to recreate this item and once again bring balance to those crossing the plane and back again.
Item: Halo of Patience (Held or 'worn' head) Affects: Wisdom by 3 Affects: Move by -20 AC: 20 Weight: 50 Charges: 5 Skara trump charges (disintegrates after 5th use)
Description on ground: A voice whispers, 'constancy' and brings you to your knees.
Look at description: The halo shakes violently in your hands. Its instability due to the nature of its construction. Gaea has inscribed a message to the strong of fortitude.
Look Gaea: Trudge forward with five of these great shackles to the highest plane of existence and its been said even time itself will stop ... and the hour hand will turn back ever so slightly.
Shackles of Solemnity: (treasure) (worn neck, feet, wrist) Grants the bearer a reduction of 1 remort off their counter.
On ground: A pile of linked halos hums faintly here.
Look at description What is the intriguing device. It looks as if five angels had their halos stripped only to be combined into a single use. There is a large halo to go around ones neck, linked to 4 smaller ones that must attached to the ankles and wrists.
Powerful mortals used to use these powerful shackles to thwart the gods during their quest to perfection.
Gambler.
