Despite being a non-geek, I'll bite and submit my opinions:
1. PAL vs. NTSC
Why oh why do you Americans have to invent your own standards? When I finally visit the States I will have to ensure that I have a tri-band mobile!
2. Mercury vs. Apollo
Apollo. I was raised on a diet of Greek mythology.
3. Intel vs. AMD
AMD - none too sure of the technical arguments because I'm not a gamer nor do I overclock. I just really
loathe those Intel television adverts.
4. Perl vs. Python
I've toyed with the idea of learning a language to take my first steps in picking up programming concepts ever since trying to learn Commodore Basic and writing adventure games using the 'Quill' (remember that?). My *nix friends tell me to learn Perl, but in other quarters I've been told to learn Python. I
like the idea of Python and it's simplicity - not to mention extendibility.
I think I'll look into Python once I've delved more into HTML (css)
5. Grant vs. Lee
I am aware of significant historial American events but not the detail. I stuided early 20th century European history.
6. AD&D vs. EPT
Never read Empire of the Petal Throne, but I have developed a hatred of AD&D and it's multitude of rules. Almost as bad as Rolemaster.
7. Chess vs. Bridge
Chess. It's also a spectator sport.
8. Blackjack vs. Craps
Neither. If you had to press me then Blackjack. But I'd rather play poker (especially variants).
9. Black Spy vs. White Spy
Black without a doubt. This question is really Anti vs Paladin. The dark side is rather seductive.
10. ASCII vs. EPSIDIC
What on earth is EPSIDIC? I'll go with ASCII because I know what ASCII is.
11. BiC Ballpoint vs. Pentel Rolling Writer
Pentel every time, although I don't use Pentel pens and I
loathe bics. I'm unable to
right using bic pens - horrible, cheap, plastic rubbish. I much prefer roller-balls.
Bold annotations are my ownDid you SPOT the phonetic spelling mistake? Good Lord! I am astounded and disgusted with myself that I even words in their wrong context. I feel so ashamed. Writing during work lunch-hours does not allow one the luxury of proof-reading.
12. 50Hz vs. 60Hz
What's the difference between hertz?
13. 1927 Yankees vs. 1995 Indians
Baseball. I have absolute -zero- interest in American sports.
14. Chamberlain vs. Russell
I can only think of Neville Chamberlain and Bertrand Russell.
15. Beatles vs. Stones
Beatles every time. Although I like the Stones, I much prefer the Lennon & McCartney's song-writing and modern production. Although 75% of the Beatles output was dire, the other 25% is bordering on genius. That said, I think the Kinks, especially Ray Davies, are terribly underrated. Snap Paul Weller in his 'The Jam' days.
16. Rock vs. Scissors
Like Proto, I'm a paper man.
17. Farrah Fawcett-Majors vs. Jaclyn Smith
Jaclyn Smith every way,
bay-bee!. You're wrong, of course. The question should be Catherine Bach (or should that be Barbara Bach?).
18. Jefferson vs. Jackson
(see above answer on American History).
19. European Football vs. American Football
Is this serious? (see above answer on American Sports)
20. QWERTY vs. Dvorak
What is 'Dvorak'? Since I can touch type I'll plump for QWERTY.
21. Bugs vs. the Road Runner
Bugs. I take this question to be sacrilegious! RR was a nothing more than a cheap, vacuous cartoon that didn't possess any of the verbal dexterity and juxtaposition of the Bugs Bunny cartoons. Bugs Bunny also pushed the boundaries in coded form e.g. dressing up as women, playing a variety of characters, displaying on occasion what hinted at an aberrant sexuality.
22. Coke vs. Pepsi
I used to be a Coke person but now prefer the taste of Pepsi. I absolutely
loathe both sets of television adverts - especially the Pepsi 'We Will Rock You' with Pink.
23. Lego vs. Duplo
Lego. Duplo is for babies whilst lego is for all budding architects and building constructors.
24. Tastes Great vs. Less Filling
Don't understand the context of the question.
25. The Lady vs. The Tiger
Ditto.
26. Bradbury vs. Asimov
Would choose Bradbury as although the Science may not be as accurate as Asmiov, his concepts and themes were much broader.
27. Spiderman vs. Batman
Batman for exploring the psychology of Superheroes. But I would recommend 'Watchmen' for that aspect.
28. Beta Blockers vs. ACE Inhibitors
No knowledge or real interest to be able to comment.
29. Air Force F15 vs. Navy F14
(see above).
30. Einstein vs. Hawking
Would Hawking be as widely famous if he hadn't been struck down by Motor Neurone Disease? Would he be as widely famous if some malicious programmer from the company that created his computer synth equipment gave Stephen say, a Brummie accent? Or a Hicksville accent? A Valley girl accent?

Cordelia
P.s. Don't get me started on vi vs EMACS. I absolutely detest vi on the occasions that I was forced to use it. It may well be powerful but user-friendly? Vi(le) more like it.
