Once the building docs are back online, you can refer to those to get the proper scope for how you should create eq. As for the zone you have created, you may want to fill out a zone application, and send it to the peoper people.
The zone application is as follows;
JediMUD Builder's Guide
As of May 10th JediMUD has a new area submission policy. The policy is quite simple and can be summarized in two parts:
* You should have an immortal on JediMUD in order to build. This is a way to ensure that the people who are writing have a familiar grasp of our MUDs statistics and are relatively knowledgeable about our world as it is today. We will accept morted mortals as builders, since this first requirement is to assure a minimum level of knowledge. * You must fill out the area application below before you begin. We will read each as it comes in and respond to its merits and offer suggestions. Keep in mind that a letter with suggestions is not a dismissal of your idea, it is merely to give helpful advice for possible additions to your zone concept from the person who knows more about the world than anyone else. Please send your completed form to areas@jedimud.com.
Area Writing Application for JediMUD
Real-life name:
E-mail address:
Character on the mud (please limit this to one, to lessen the confusion):
Is this an original zone or a revision of an existing zone? If a revision, is the area public?
Write a brief (100 word) description of your zone, including the theme/time period and/or setting.
How many rooms do you expect to use?
Would you define your zone as low (1-10) mid (11-15) high (16-25) or very high
Please describe five of your major mobs, five items (including stats), and send ten sample rooms.
If your concept is approved and registered, what is your estimated completion date?
When we are confident you have your idea fleshed out enough to begin building, he will assign you a zone to work within. JediMUD does not have Online Creation, so you will have to work offline with a text editor such as vi or Pico. Here are some tips for area writing:
* Draw your map first. Whatever your plan is and whatever you are planning to write, having a clear, concise map to work from is a major step down the right path. Ask us for clarification of some ways to draw clear maps to work from. * Start by writing the first five rooms at the entrance to your zone, then send it in to be looked at. It is a lot easier to prevent reoccurring mistake in your area at this stage then it is to go back and correct them when the area has been completely written. Do the same with Mobiles and Objects * Follow the guidelines for Mobile gold and experience that are listed on the building docs for JediMUD. It is OK to deviate from this list for variety, but as a rule, try not to do so any more than 10 or 15% higher or lower. Obviously, if a mobile is hard for its level because of triple hit or being in a No-Magic room, then you should give it a little higher experience and gold. Alternatively, if it is easier than the norm, then cut the experience and gold on this Mobile as would be appropriate. * Try to add as much creativity and originality to your writing from a unique (i.e., something from your own imagination) theme or doing entirely new things with the statistics you assign to the Object and Mobiles in the area. We do not want D&D modules that you have scanned in. That's copyrighted materials and it just will not be added to the world. Unfortunately, the same goes for any other copyrighted ideas that you may stumble upon. If you want to write Wheel of Time areas, or Star Wars areas, please go find someplace that will install them before beginning to work on them for us. We do not want legal problems with the legitimate creators of these themes down the line. * Frequently update us on your progress. We will be trying to keep you motivated and on track, since so very many of the zone ideas that get submitted die when their writer loses interest. If you get bogged down or bored writing Rooms, then try changing to Mobiles or Objects for a little while. Variety is the spice of life, and often it will also keep your project alive when boredom would seek to kill it. Frequent updates also allows for him to help you more extensively as you continue with your zone and get closer to completion every day. * Spell affects on items: These are not in the building docs and it is doubtful they will be added. If you want a spell on an item, ask us about it. If it is not going to cause a major imbalance to the game (i.e., sanctuary on an object, or any curing spell) then we will probably let it go in. Keep in mind that any offensive magic you want on the object will not be rejected, but it will hit the user of the object, not what they are fighting.

If you're looking for jedi building docs while they seem to be unlinked, I have them stored as PDF files on my server space, and I've made a very hasty page for you to access them. Go here: web.ics.purdue.edu/~cmberry/jedi/building.html

Love the new message boards...also, who is in charge of new equipment and its implimentation. i downloaded world builder and have sucessfully set up a zone. Was wonderin what my constraints with creating eq are... Who is in charge would be me. Please send in a zone proposal before you get too far along in your creativity as I would hate for you to do all this work and then be declined. Your constraints with regards to creating eq is that they must fit the theme of the zone and they must be within the guidelines for the appropriate level of the zone. Those guidelines can be found temporarily on the site Protoclown has posted. Thanks.

Bardic Instrument? I know of one which loads. Of course it would block a nice load. In any case it is not like you can't go into bardic and find some kind of instrument, or even get people to get you a harp or guitar easily enough. The other lesser ones are easy enough to get with a bard with an enlib, wyverns, a few potions (or a cleric-bot).

here's a little something to add to your coat of arms hanging in the family room. (also serves as a handy way to commit seppuku as a direct result of the Great Downtime of 2004...)
In ancient myth, before the coming of Man, "Balor of the Evil Eye" ruled as a great wizard-king over a grotesque race known as the Formorians. Balor was the son of Net, a god of death and destruction who granted him the power of a left eye whose baleful stare would sweep away all that it beheld. It is widely believed the curse of the "evil eye" that appears in many cultures around the world sprang from the mostly forgotten legends of Balor. This fully functional sword is wickedly brought to life by Windlass Steelcrafts. www.mwart.com/xq/ASP/pid.895/cat.30/qx/product.htm

Energizer Battery is a move/moveregen light. New Energizer Battery is a hp/hpregen light. thick marble ring is hpregen and !good but far too weak and outdated to warrant using a set apals used to use the tattered grey shirt for manaregen, what few apals there ever were anyways. Most clerics and mages use a strat hat or golden helm and visor if they have any remorts, tends to add 3-6 manaregen. Only +cha gear I can think of for those slots are fingerpicks for hands(for bards)and a snakeskin slip or a teddy bear for about. Slip is easy enough to get but everyone nowadays wants a yukata. 'a metallic shield' is +1 strength with almost no rests and ml0, easy to get too. A hp/mana regen shield would be nice for all aligns though, stront is too restricted and ward major is !good and has class rests. refracting cloak is +2dex about but too restricted for general use. scarlet cape is 8hpregen 11hp about, mostly used as regen gear or sac though. moth-eaten old cape is -1dex +1con, easy to get and a winter wolf pelt is 1str 1con and I'd bet theres a hefty supply of those left over from the last xmas quest if people dug them out. chocolate chip cookie and a jade frog(AVTR prize)are both moveregen holdables but only a few points, need something bigger. Hope that helps a few people. -Maranta

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 'half' of those items aforementioned already load in the game in some form or another. I have around 15-16 new items submitted and approved and have just been waiting for them to be dropped in the game. Some may fill slots you are looking for.

Speaking of New EQ, I for one would especially like to see far more class specific equipment like the bardic items. They don't nessecarily need to be acquired the same way... though a training ground or area for every class couldn't possibly hurt and could very well provide valuable class knowledge and experience along with a few items.
Make some loadable, make a few smaller pieces buyable from guilds, have a few winable in quests and add one or two constructables that fill in the weak slots of each class as pretty much all of them have at least one, in some cases more than a few.
Two more coppers for the pile and more coming all the time,
-Maranta

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the new items recently added? Or how about some other items that would make for a worthwhile and balanced addition to the game?

The new bard gear is nice - some of it especially has been wanted for a long time. See bracelets and leggings.
Of the new stuff mentioned in the letter to Alistra... The leggings are very nice! The other stuff seems to be decent as well.

Blackened Spade daggers suck!, just ask Hurin, new golden items that Santa and I made suck too! New Bardic eq is nice, but eventually if bards are able to actually kill them often, there aren't too many bards at the moment and eventually most bards will have that eq. I'm not going to talk about the new god or demi quest eq, also I haven't been mort enough to find any of Kailyns new ietms added that much. Labrat's items rock though too.

Uhhh thats the whole point of the eq, Air. Its there because they want/need it and because they CAN get it. Its not like I had it flagged CIMP-awardable as a giant tease. You should read the changes more closely too as the regen items are also my creations. Still I'm glad the mortal population is appreciating the bard gear and the regen items. Have fun finding the rest and expect me to submit even more items in the near future!

Most of the time when new items go in, I have no idea who put in the ideas but the recent new items have been very welcomed as a new challenge.
They are nice and I especially have fun running bardic eq. Thks Maranta for suggesting the items and putting them in.
Cheers!

I agree with Maranta, and so would the folks who code the eq and write kewl descriptions and research out old forgotten names for eq. What fun would it before them if their contributions where left to languish forgotten in the database? Oh there might be some balance issue to work out but no reason to not introduce the eq in the end.
