Something I've missed ever since they took out skills you can't use if you haven't practiced them is the ability to initiate combat with 'merchant' mobs or !magic mobs.. used to be you could try to steal from them or pummel them to initiate combat, even tho the success rate was 0% you sould still use it to pick a fight.
How about giving bards a 'Harsh Language' skill? You know bards with their quicksilver tongues =). This skill wouldn't do any damage to the mob but it would infuriate them enought to make them hit you.
Level : 17 Duration : N/A Cost : None Delay : 1 combat round When : Non Combat
Usage : harsh (target)
Description : A bard using his quick wits, smooth tongue and the knowledge accumulated throu his travels can infuriate otherwise peaceful mobs into attacking him. One should make sure one can handle a fight before picking one!

I like it, though a swearing bard doesnt really fit my mental image, maybe call it taunt? ro something else, Harsh language, after all would fit in quit nicely in an army post, and all that Yo Mamma jokes tho always piss people off
