Hi All.
I am going to summarize what I sent to a few friends, what the ADMIN know, and what I put under the wrong topic. That was Kailyn's annoucement of her new CHILD! We should all congratulate her, after all the personal issues she had to deal with!
JEDIMUD IS MOVING!!!!! It will have a new IP, we will release this IP when we are sure nothing is abnormal.
No version 5.8 will not be out when we move. I cannot even tell you how much work it was for the admin and I to get Jedi transferred. Doc, was monumental in his help. I have most of the Jedi email accounts moved over to my box. I have the mailing lists set up I believe. I had to transfer 500K worth of files for their websites. I think it’s about 17 websites + my 4. I had to set up DNS which took 3-4 days. DNS is not easy, and it has to be authorative. I had to put 27 zones in, of which 12 were slaves. The slaves won’t work until we move the new IP on to those masters. Doc needs to do this, as I am sure they are set to only use the current Jedi IP. I moved my development directory over another 200k + files. I moved over (or I started the transfer of all the Jedi game files) when I left this morning. Not to mention how much security I put on this bad boy.
Jedi can now use a website for mgmt. They can add/subtract/ create/modify any of the services now. The game can be auto started on boot up via CRON. The game will be actively monitored and reported back to admin portal. We also purchased a droid APP, so we get notified upon ping loss, game restart or crash to our phones.
We also have webmail now, so if you get an account you can access your Jedi email from the web portal. I set up a chroot and rootkit protection, so you have to have an account to get into my box. That being said, now the admin can access the CLI from the web portal. Hence we can code from the portal.
The next beautiful piece of info is; I can seamlessly pass on game stats to the website. I am planning on passing game stats such as, its happy hour now, kill counters, who is currently on, are their quests going on, and so on. It was the next evolution of the game. I will also be introduction chat and a java panel for the players. You can use the chat while playing online, and the java panel will be a secured connection to the game from the website.
Yes the ADMIN have been busy. We will officially move this weekend if not sooner. There is still a lot of testing, and data to move. Then to set up my backup server, so I can have 2x copies of the data on 2x drives. I will not need to do much there, I will pass the data back via the ESXi network back plane.
We also plan on sync'ing the data back to another server. The plan I have (not yet agreed too), is to back up the data to my new backup server. Then sync that server to do backups at night.
please feel free to put suggestions towards me. Even send the email to austinpowers@jedimud2.com if you like Dont worry, the normal emails will still go as directed. I just want to use the testing domain to validate all of email is up and working!
the NEW IP will not be released until we go live!
Have a great week all!
