OPEN LETTER:
To all,
I am going to start off, I know your frustrated, i know you want to see progress, and I know you want more then excuse's. I wish I could give great news. The past few weeks have been rough, I had storm damage from the storms that kept hitting the mid west. I cost 1500$ worth of damage to my server, and the backup NAS I had that stored the backups. I am still waiting on the RAM to come, I hope is any day now. I really hoped for last week All the damage is repaired but the extra RAM, but I did lose some of my changes. I lost 3 weeks of work, which was just about the rest of the magic system I had ready.
I am also in the middle of our mid year review, with several major projects on my plate. If people here do not know, this is my 4th or 5th priority. I am network Engineer for JPMorgan. It pays my bills, and keeps food on my plate. It also gives me the ability to support my brothers family. He was let go by the US post office, in a very dubious fashion. His wife has a pre-cancerous cyst on her brain stem. Anyone that knows me knows that I will not let family go down. I have been working extra hours, giving them money.
That being said: State of JediMUD 6.0
I keep the log pretty update to date in the 6.0 main blog. I plan to fully working on things Sunday and Monday. Most of the admin can tell you, when I say I will get it done I usually do and at a fast pace.
I am very far into the development. I know its taken time, but if you knew about code, or have worked on any code, then you know. When you have to redo a base, then code the uniqueness back into it. It takes time, but the code will be in such a build-able state, it can grow or have changes done at a much faster clip.
If I had to give an honest answer to where I stand. I would of said 80% done 3 weeks ago. Now I have to say 65%, after all that code I lost. The admin keeps listening to what people say, and give me more to add or subtract. To be honest there too, its tough to keep up with make changes to the test code and the live game. however, some of these great email rants we do, lead to great investments into what we want to deliver.
I hope this gives people some hope, some willingness to help, to jump in and express ideas. This admin team is not closed minded at all, and we have very robust discussions.
Have a happy 4th of July all!
