Hi All, Eniac and I are working on version 6.0 of Jedi. I will need player testing to help achieve this. There are significant code upgrades going on at this moment. Amongst these changes are:
ASCII Player files
Object mailing
Electronic mail delivery
Return to sender mail (30 days)
Upgrade of the Text editing (player desc, and Mail)
Major rewrites of other sections of the code.
New prompt code, making better use of the options.
New color codes and uses (Color codes can now be used through out the world, or even communcations.)
New and more advanced logging of game options
New configurations code modules (Enhances the coders work).
In Game reboots (copyover)
Zone rebooting.
While this may seem small as a list, I assure you. We have brought jedi code into the 21st century. This does not impact the next minor release in anticipation of the Easter Quest.
Please inquire via MUD MAIL.
Thank you,
Austinpowers aka Cunning Asst. Coder

What do you mean by "Electronic mail delivery"?

This means that if someone mudmails you, it will be delivered where ever you are in the game. I believe I have set it to be a 5 second delay.

Ah, I thought you were going to tag each PC with an email address. But I like the in game delivery idea.

How about not having to receive mail/junk mail before renting? 30 day old mail just gets deleted or something... if it automatically gets mailed to you, you have to deal with it. Why not have the option of not receiving while online?
Any further ideas?

OLC will not just be around the corner. I was a maintainer for OLC for many years. It was not on the coding list, and the code is not in a state that OLC can be added easily.
Offline building will be the only way to build for the foreseeable future.

While a good idea, there is no way for us to determine what is junk and what not is. The 30 days will be for return to sender email. I cannot discern between good and bad at this point.
The toggle on/off is a good idea. I will pass that a long to others and get feed back.

Mail System Suggestion: 1. If you have mail waiting, it will warn you when you log in 2. If you type receive, you will receive all the mail waiting for you (regardless of where you are in the world - except see 7) 3. There could be an option on your prompt to signify mail waiting 4. Mail should not have an expiry date (unless the char expires)
If you are allowing mail of items: 5. The number of items waiting for any player should be limited 6. A char cannot mail an item to that same char (thereby qwazi increasing the rent slots) 7. Add a flag to rooms that you cannot receive mail in (gauntlet, quest-zones, etc)
Some thoughts anyhow

Understood, and looking into some of those. I had already addressed 2 of those in the list.
