As most of you know, I've been building a bit and am continually building. Dragon City went in and soon a low level zone will go in to make running between levels 8-15 a little easier. My next project however is going to be another high level zone and the eq slots/stats are still open for debate. I don't need names/descs or anything...just position worn and stats, so if you feel like a certain class/alignment has been wronged in a certain spot, post an idea. The more, the better. Or if you just feel like something should exist, post it too. Hoping to get some good ideas!
Anton.

This is a great question to ask Anton...but before I answer I want to see if any of the old eq is going to get updated. I would hate to suggestion something for you and they turn it down because they are updating an item.

If you are waiting on my post, do not count on anything coming of it. I am just trying out ideas, nobody higher up has said anything encouraging about it in any way. Even when I suggested them in the past via "idea" email, or wizline. I figured at the least it would be a good exercise and might possible trip off some good enough reasons some of it could be done. But a good zone idea is a good idea.

My great ideas are for me and for Ciara to approve *crosses fingers* but I suppose your just after ideas so heres a few...
How about a perma-enrage dagger for bard ml 20 (same as enrage). Benefit: removes enrage when removed, great for backstabbing when forced to backstab instead of group. There are some great names it for it. The exact stats I leave up to you/Ciara to approve.
All the equipment below I recommend are all not for the overoveroveroverpowered cleric class.
2 dam 12 hp wrist wear for warriors. 1 int/wis 10 mana wrist wear (mage, sohei, apal, pal) high AC on body gear that has +stat (be it, wis, int, dex, str, hp ..) 8 hp 8 mana wrist wear (mage)
higher powered eq? +2dam neck -mana regen or -mana (pal/apal/sohei/jedi). +2dam +1cha ring (bard)
More to come.. maybe.

Eh trading +hp for +cha shouldn't be that big of a deal for bard as a class. It is unfair that a bard needs to drag around 7 pieces of +cha gear just to do a proper inspire/enrage/fly/blur etc. This just means I don't have to swap 7-8 pieces of eq to sing a half decent song when I am running around in damage gear. Once you hit petrify not much point wearing damage gear, but before that, no damage songs to gain any real benefit.
So yes.. bards could really use some +dam +cha gear blended into them. As I play bard the most, this is what I can think of:
+2dam +1cha ring +1dam +1cha neckwear ml 24 +1dam +1str perma magical vestment belt +1dam +1cha shield +2dam +1cha hands
a new backstab weapon as bard in theory is a derivative of rogue/thief, they should be able to use spike and such, but something a bit better then nightbringer would be nice.
Hmm.. other items...
a warrior-only weapon that is a tiny bit better then lbolt a +4dam holdable (high ml, class rests, align rests?)
Leveling Gear: +3wis light +1dam +1con rings +1dam +1con bracelets +1str +1wis/int/con neckwear
More to come.

My great ideas are for me *snip* 1 int/wis 10 mana wrist wear (mage, sohei, apal, pal) *snip* Aaron So you are in the line to approve all new equipment, how the heck did that happen? (I assume that was a joke?) You can only have 2 stats/mods on an item, and one perma spell. So, you you could (in theory) build an int/wis +aid , but you only get one 'aid spell' so it would not really be +10hp. Getting something that powerful approved would be something completely different.

I am confused by your response.
What I was saying is: 1. My best ideas, I will not post on this board or give out, as I plan in the future to build a zone and hopefully have them passed through Ciara. Who, to my understanding, is the only person in 'line to approve all new equipment'. 2. the symbol '/' was meant to be interpreted as 'or' my apologies for any confusion. 3. a +int +10 mana bracelet should not be considered 'too powerful' given that, mages get shafted compared to clerics. Ben Kenobi's anyone?
If you are going to respond to my post, at least make a response to my post AND suggest a new idea, as so far, I am the only one who has added something of any value to this thread.
As such here is another item: +20 hp +20 moves high ac shield for warrior

Is this the knowledge of DOOM that you keep throwing around? Secondly, most of your ideas are incredibly simple and are just taking a class and adding +1 or +2dam and + whatever their primary stat may be. I'm sure we'd all like 2dam +dex in 7 different slots for our thieves and ninja, but at a certain point it gets to be a little ridiculous. We need to add variety to the game, so that there isn't a "perfect set of gear". You also mention items that already exist. For example, a +4dam holdable with a high minlevel and restrictions... Sword of Damocles. Neck wear thats 2dam and minus mregen? That is basically a Paragon. Some suggestions for Anton(figured I better put some ideas out there before you jump on my case like you did Ching's). An evil-able only warrior only weapon with stats similar(read: slightly less than) to the Lbolt. Evil warriors currently have plenty of high ac+damage gear. Something to balance out the good-aligned guys would be nice. Unless, of course, the higher ups are trying to make evil more ac-heavy and good more damage-heavy. Some moderate +damage +hp or str/dex items would be nice. 1 Dam 1 Dex 15-20 ac leggings would be nice to compliment the +str leggings from Dragon City. 1 or 2 dam handwear with any positive attribute and 4-8 AC. Some nice low level +damage footwear would be nice. Doesn't have to be anything extravagant. Just something to take the place of fuzzy bunny slippers and to hold classes over until mohicans/hooves. 1dam -dex or minus 5-10hp with 0-5 ac ml 0 would be a great addition. I really think we are fine on level gear, it is almost too easy to get any class to 25 wis/int/con. If you were to add some level gear I would suggest either the shield(to take the place of dasein) or about body spot. Items that mix con with wis/int are always neat additions.

An evil weapon slightly less than a Lbolt...you mean like an enchanted talon or t-axe? and I'm sorry I do want a perfect set of eq after 8 years of not having much +stat to eq I think we are entitled to it. How about +1dam +1dex rings that are s&n only? +con legwear ml0 that loads in the game +1dam +1int rings that are s&j only +2dam rings for sohei add hr or int +1dam +5mana ring that soheis can use? yes straight up +1dam !rests no ac footwear would be nice for your mid level zone maybe +1dam -wis legwear for sohei & jedi +2dam +1wis pal/apal/& jedi only bracelets +1dam +1int sohei/jedi armwear makes you choose between stats +1dam bodywear for sohei ac higher than 18 add dex, int, mana, or mana regen that would be very nice.. whatever you think add whatever other classes would benefit. more to come

If you were to add some level gear I would suggest either the shield(to take the place of dasein) or about body spot. Items that mix con with wis/int are always neat additions. I owe Ching an apology. That wasn't fair, and I am sorry for it. Your first point makes no sense at all, please READ my post before quoting it and commenting on it. I did not mention Causes, and I know there stats well, I owned them once, and nor did I even say they were +hp. THINK before you TYPE. Yes, we could use some more +stat equipment, no, we don't want every slot to have it (I agree with you), but some slots should have it. A bard in dam gear has very little cha. I am not saying get 25 cha, I am saying getting maybe 22. As cha, unlike most other attributes, doesn't really mess up any equipment balancing on a bard. Adding wis to clerics does (stronger spells in gear) adding str or dex to warrior-types (more damage, better use of skills), all cha would do is give illusion a better chance of working honestly. I agree though, no cookie cutter +1cha in every slot. Damocles, I owned 2, yes, they are +4dam but they are also +2hr. I said just +4 damage. They are not the same. Other classes could use +main attribute stat as well, but some benefit a lot more then others, bards honestly benefit the least. +2dam -5 mana regen vs. paragons are not 'essentially the same'. Consider the differences more carefully for spellcasters. Perhaps your more concerned about the depreciation of doom eq? The class restrictions would still apply to this piece of eq, whereas paragons are usable by quite a few more classes. Leveling gear is handy, it would be nice to have a little more blend of minor dam equipment and leveling mixed. But that's just my opinion, it is true one can manage to get 25's from 18's pretty easily. But going from 13con 11wis 17int to 25's isn't (at level 1) As for your equipment suggestions, I really like the idea of +1dam +1dex leggings. I believe Simba posted about changing moorish into that. Although the ac would not be as you suggested. Simba I love the idea of having +1dam +1dex/int rings for sohei/jedi. That would really fit the class well and offer up choice between the two. Some neutral-only equipment could be interesting as well. There should be a nice ring for each class, same stats as dwarven rings but maybe +1 ac and with a better name. Yea I know, not really much difference, but who likes running around with dwarven rings or equivalent, they just don't sound cool. +1dex +1str perma magical vestment belt Aaron

Thanks for all the input guys. Just want to let you know that I'm actually looking at these and some will probably find their way into the new zones, as they come out. Of course, the lack of admin makes things a bit difficult for me too, as there is no one to approve or put any zones into the game right now. Ah well.

Something to consider. A +4,+4 damage item with no restrictions exists, it is the questor's Fob (nobody has yet one one, but I expect to see one in game soon.) This eq-inflation sure has made what used to be great equipment into toss away stuff. All that being said.
I would like to see more good alignment usable ninja/thief damage equipment. It would be really nice to see some +move/+more-regen about items for ninja/antipaladin. They have so many uses for their moves that they can use all they can get, especially at low levels.
(I second the +con leg wear, that is a great idea.)
I do not think every class needs +2damage rings, especially spell casters. There should be some kind of choices for what you do. Maybe a +2damage,-10% mana regen for soehi/mage? (If you focus on melee you just lose that meta mind state for regen?) I like people needing to pick what kind of style they want to play. If we keep inflating the equipment we will be back to the 'perfect set of equipment' where the min/max/game-stats demand every cleric wear a specific set of eq (at least for head to head gauntlets and things like that.) It is much nicer to pick AC, vs hp/mana, vs regen, vs damage, vs stats, etc.

Sohei is basically our WARRIOR/mage hybrid class...I was not suggestiong +2dam rings for mages or clerics. Bards here on jedi are a huge casting class and they have 3 +2dam rings yes they don't have +3 dam wristwear but still. And I totally disagree with you there. If we have more gear and more choices there WON't be a perfect set of eq, people will have unique sets. Some people will want +dam ac, +dam hps, +dam stats or +mana, +mana regen or mix and match. Like now some good warriors like the +dex of iron sleeves and some like to use hercs still. You talk about caster's don't need dam yet iron sleeves which are a +dex are clericable again (fyi they didn't let them become bardable again)...why in the heck do clerics need dex? Not everything has to be +dam -something that was a decent formula 15 years ago. Look at the dam neckwear of good vs evil, good comes out on top +1dam +hps, +1dam +str, +1dam -2save spell..evil can use the +1dam +hps but all the hybrids have for choices are +1dam -str, +1dam -moves, +1dam -mana which all good can use as well. With bigger mobs that hit harder and take damage less which such things as resist physical and reflect and clerics using more mana regen gear which decreases the group's damage, the players should have their advantage too. What's the use of remorting all those times if you can max out 25str or 25dex without losing dam? It's called updates...look at other muds look at WoW and how they have new eq which is bigger and badder to help take down the bigger and badder mobs. Now I haven't played a good thief, yet, but I have played a good ninja and they only really need +1dam footwear.

That is true. Not only is there EQ inflation, we have SERIOUS mobile inflation. Heck, years ago Malikae and I used to take down the Count with the old cleric/thief pair with back stab/summon. Heck, now he even self purges spells. You have to grapple him to death to group him down.

ok....now ching's post just caught my interest....mob inflation....interesting topic, probably deserves its own thread...but what has led to the major mob inflation of the last few years? eq updates? prolly not cuz there has not been enough things added to the game eq wise to offset the balance me thinks. class updates? uhhh.....no. increased amounts of huge groups that wander through the mud destroying all? prolly not. grapple? hmmmmmm.......i am not going to say that grapple is 'bad'....but i am going to say that if i am going to make a mob 'grapple proof'...it will be nearly impossible forr that mob to be taken out by a classic (C/W/B/N/R) eq group. i know mobs have went through changes in the past (!mage squad) but i really think that grapple has changed a lot of how the game (on the upper end...quest/eq mobs) is played. scale back grapple (a lot) and give us our eq updates....i am not going to say that i agree with simba on some of the pimp items he proposes....i think i am more in line with ching for regular in game eq.....quest items....entirely different....*PIMP rox*...but in game....i feel that you should have to choose....dam/ac/hp/mana/mv/regen/stat/good looks/WTF ever.......ok...now i am late for work and must go.....

Ok....who wants to start pimping me? ;D
Actually there is a +3dam wrist wear for bard...it's just that multicolored bracelet is almost impossible to get.
No offence to whoever is using pets to take down mobs these days with 2 grappling chars and think it's a great idea that this is done. I do think that this also limits eq groups giving opportunity to folks to run eq. I know that Narr is big on eq groups and will ask who wants to run eq all the time and get minimal response. I am personally always into running in eq groups except that time zone may not permit especially working nights. Hmm....maybe this belongs to another thread...but oh well...I need to get back to work.

OK first of all I have not proposed anything too over the top except for some reason +2dam sohei rings in some peoples eyes. I suggested no +dam eq for mages or clerics and I may have suggested some +2dam wristwear for the warrior types at some point. But my point was that players are very limited in what they can do vs what they used to be able to do because of mob upgrades, the whole remort stat change with skills based off those changes, and change to regen.
+15mana Perma magic vestment cleric only belt (actually any single slot) I just thought it would be interesting to suggest some more perma spell items spark some interest.
oh and how about a +1dam apal only belt since the -wis of the bbelt affects them.

If I come up with a way to take down Augustus by myself then what difference does it make if nobody else is running him and he's just sitting there for the whole uptime not even getting looked at? That's like saying you shouldnt solo Quagar with your Ranger because we wanna eq group Rhyoden because that's not fair for you to hog him up.
I've been back for a little over a month now and logged enough hours since then that I'm ashamed to post the number here right now. In that time I think I've only seen MAYBE three or four eq groups run since then. That includes running Pagoda which can't be run with pets anyway. Crash loads don't count.
Point is nobody that's running around killing stuff with pets is interfering with somebody else wanting to kill stuff because usually it's impossible to get people together to kill stuff anyway. I can guarantee that these pet/grapple runs are done infrequently and at a time when there are not enough people interested in grouping up to take down big mobs anyway.

i dont think it is the point of you being able to do it....the problem is that when someone figures out how to use some little 'trick' to beat a big mob....then that person will hesitate to run with an eq group from then on....which makes it even harder to form an eq group...but i dunno...i have been kinda AWOL the last few weeks anyways....so i prolly dont have a lot of room to complain/comment on much of anything...

It's not a new trick...it's been around since stun btw...people usually choose not to use it until last resort. and doesn't 3 make a group? And just because you haven't seen eq doesn't mean they're not running. anyway back to the eq thread...thank you for that intermission

Well noone has written here in a while, but I just wanted to say that I read all the suggestions and took alot of the requests into account in the new zone, so you may see your idea manifested in the upcoming zone. I am doing the halloween quest in a few months, so again, if anyone has any cool ideas for good items, or even just neat bonus items (like rabbit helmet, voodoo doll, etc etc) just write em here and its something I can come look at when I need ideas. Also will probably be starting another zone soon, so ideas for in game eq again is not only welcome but hoped for. Thanks for all the input so far.
