do you see where this is going? so lets see what kind of set ups and the affects that can be maintained with eq....i would say do NOT use quest/DOOM/afd gear....and prolly not phasers....i just want to see what people would come up with using 'normal' eq....if it is an item that you see logged in once a month...it is not normal....so anyways....lets see what ya got......

Stop spray-painting your lead figurines in non-ventilated work areas.

a cigarette! wait....you mean on this thread? i was just thinking that it would be interesting to compare what good vs evil eq sets we can come up with....who gets the best damage? who gets better ac? who gets better regen? so....name your class....align....list your eq...what stats are....and what your thinking is behind your eq.....

As far as eq goes, for a newer player, good aligned is easier to go. If you take out all quest/doom/hard to get gear, generally its easier to be good. If you had anything you'd like to have though, going evil gives you better stats in almost all categories (damage, ac, mana etc etc)

even though evil tends to be top...aren't those items generally harder to come by?

I don't think good aligned eq is easer to get for new players. seems like Mohican boots are far easer than Titanic Hooves. Yellow bone rings are far easer to get than Tarnished brass. Red jade rings are far easier than small rings. The black candle is about as easy as the bright lantern. The damp black robe and bone belt and spider dagger are good items and easy for evil newbies That don't have really good alternatives in the good align category. Most other basic eq is mostly non-align restrictive or to class restrictive

.who gets the best damage? who gets better ac? who gets better regen? so....name your class....align....list your eq...what stats are....and what your thinking is behind your eq..... I've always found that NEU sets are pretty decent. I've run NEU W, C, R and Bs. Did you want an eq list (dam/regen?) for these classes? Obviously J, P, A, T, N and M and S are essentially aligned classes. J, P, and A bind alignment restrictions into the spell casting set. Ninja eq implementation on jedi tends to be evil aligned due to a narrow view of assassins. I run mages/sohei solo as evil due to edrain/channel align impact, but both class have some options on either side of the align spectrum for mana/int/wis to 25. My 25 int mage can be good, neu or evil and stay near 150mR and 25 int/wis.

Neutral damage is best for a warrior if they don't have doom gear, it is also very nice for mana regen for a cleric...and you all think dank is mad...well you're probably right and it's just coincidence that he's running it.

The good/neutral/evil discussion should include group vs. solo. Most, (that is most, not all!, it just means more than half) clerics and warriors are good and they drive (most) people that run around in groups to be good aligned. For classes that are (mostly) solo, that tend to follow the best equipment for their class. My mages run around with minimal align restrictive gear because their align is always in flux and can and are almost any alignment but try to go neutral most of the time to maintain the best enchanting ability. As Thief the best equipment is evil aligned so they tend to stay evil. Of course paladins, anti-paladins, and Jedi's maintain their align or they cant use spells

i see the same thing with the vast majority of clerics/warriors in groups...they all tend to be good align....but why? it kinda seems to me that for warriors it is easier to get evil eq at mid levels....then good eq at upper levels.....then it swings back to evil when you start getting into UBER eq....as far as clerics...most people who do a lot of solo work as a cleric seem to be evil (ac/regen/wis)....thief/ninja are almost always evil....is this what everyone else sees? or am i just blind and don't pay attention...which is entirely possible!

I disagree, for warrior besides swordsman & bbelt the better eq good aligned and they have more choices. sharks/moh, laurel, gsp/armor of dragon/shining breast plate, not only can good use iron sleeves & fbones but they can also use auburns & hercs, and the ever popular Lbolt. evil does have more and better choices in light with ggstandard and porb vs might. oh and the new dragonhide leggings are sweet for evil warriros. you tell me is it easier to get might, 2xmoh, gsp, valor, t-axe over porb, 2phearts, mandalorian, dragonhide, talon? I'll say ggstandard/bbelt=lbolt and everything else is a wash. so who is the winner? One big reason people run good more, front of UW is very nice on an exp run.

Personally I believe most of it stems from the availability of worthwhile experience mobs. There's a fairly wide variety out there but a lot of the readily available, quick to kill, minimum proc mobs are evil aligned. Plenty of good and neutral mobs exist but are easily outnumbered by the evil mobs.
Some people routinely like to throw the Mahn-Tor run into the debate but even after just a few remorts, none of the mobs are worth the time even solo. Not because they're far away or have sanctuary but because they don't give anywhere near enough experience.
As for T/N, in my experience they're usually evil because of lack of skills and inability to take out larger mobs without canned magic or help. As such its usually a quantity over quality situation where more good and neutral mobs are left to pay the price. I still see a few good or neutral thieves and ninjas but they're a real rarity. I've played both classes in all three alignments and while neutral is great solo, its always been too difficult to maintain in a group before the new alignment bonuses were added. Of course playing a ninja is sheer misery, regardless of alignment.

Actually being able to lead a mixed alignment group is a good skill. You can hit more neutral mobs, as well as switch back and forth on what you do kill. I still have my ninja decked out as a "good ninja" from the Unicorn quest series (where Grand Mistress of High Magic, was after Siawyn and Rhyoden.) It is more fun, I never did put an LBolt on him because I did not have extra but also to make it easier on EQ runs. That is an other thing to consider. Max damage gear is great for non-tanking people trying to max experience in a group, but if you want to do any EQ resetting you have to take into account having alternate equipment. The "not the best but still nice to have equipment" is out there. Example neck (good)Sharks or Medal of honor (neutral) thunderstones (evil) neckplate (great AC only) black serpent.
I have been thinking of getting an item database and some kind of audit or balancing going. Some things are obvious (like the Strategist's Hat AC fix (from worse to better.) This would change quite a lot of things depending on what we changed. So before it is done we would want a general overall policy on what things should be. EG. Good should have good AC vs Evil having good damage? (that one seems like a natural?) But then I could see that being reversed "Good has not fear of death, and so concentrates on damage over defense." However 'Evil has a great fear of judgement and so maximizes their defense(AC) over all else.' As long as it was clearly stated we could just audit the items very easily.
These are all long term 'sometime in the vague future' kind of goals. However we should have them just for the creation of new items, especially as we seem to be adding in quite a few new zones.

i dont think that there should be guidelines placed on eq based on alignment....it should be based on the theme of the zone.....if you have a group of barbarians who walk around smashing stuff all day....you will not find high ac +dex/int items....but you would find +dam type stuff....knights would have high ac/cha.....swashbucklers dex/cha.....etc etc......ii would like to compare the good/evil eq and see a balance.....what is evil's answer to the lbolt? (if someone says Rockbreaker, i swear, i will kill them) what is good's answer to ggstandard? and not just compare if the eq exists....what is the likelihood of getting said item....anyways......let me get back to killin crap.....

I really have to agree with Tarbal, at least for the most part.
Completely revising equipment specifically because of alignment is a disaster waiting to happen. Regardless if someone is evil or good, they're going to use the equipment they want, not out of fear of judgement or lack of fear of death. In my opinion Evil would be far more likely to go all out damage to inflict greater harm and inspire terror. Its all a matter of perspective and will differ with everyone who looks at it.
Personally I don't see a need for a huge rebalancing, let alone an audit based on someone's perception of good and evil. I do however think people very much need to learn the database better and learn what goes where, who made it, etc. I also believe there needs to be significant differences between all three alignments in terms of equipment. Some balancing is always needed to prevent unfair advantages but there needs to be those items that set each alignment apart. Otherwise we'll just end up with two carbon copies of the same items only with different names, alignments and loading in different places with varying levels of difficulty. We're not far off that now of course but its those differences in the availability of ac and damage that makes choosing between good and evil more challenging at some times.

Some zones aren't very specific with their equip except for this is an evil zone or this is a good zone. But there does need to be an audit to change some of the class rests or ml on some eq and to find out what holes there are classwise and alignwise, besides knowing what is already in the game for future addition. Some examples: Lbolt is apalable, why? and I for one would like to have +1dam legwear for a good sohei that isn't -int or -dex which was fine when we maxed out our stats and 18 and skills weren't stat dependent, but 18dex isn't that great for disarms you need higher to be effective and sohei's spells are int dependent. So knowing this hole it so it could be filled without the playerbase whining about it might be a plus. And adding some more neutral only gear for the classes that can run neutral would be cool as well.
