the most immersive RPG i've ever played, bar none, is MORROWIND. but, for god's sake, don't sell, drop or lose Sanit Kil's Heart of Fire. you'll need it to complete the master quest. the best ascii RPG i've ever played is HACK (sometimes referred to as ROGUE), an elegant little row/column maze where, if you're lucky, you can feed your little dog tripe rations and he'll grow into a big dog! can't tell you how many hours i wasted on that one. the best 80286 platformed RPG i've ever played is Might & Magic III. Jon Van Caneghem rocked the genre before he sold out to a mindless tide of tepid sequels. www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,18286/ the best multi-player arcade game i've ever played has to be Wizards of Wor, where you teamed up with a buddy to fight the impossible-to-hit invisible wizard in the final arena of death. i must have one hundred and fifty old computer game titles in my library, from EA's early ARCHON to the silly drink coaster HARRY POTTER series.

I'm totally playing Colonization and Space Colony and the Sims when the mood strikes... Hubby's doing Neverwinter Nights (finally installed another harddrive to put it on since no matter how much space you have on your computer, you will fill it) and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City I still stand behind Colonization tho

Battlefield Vietnam is online right? Yes, but it also has a single player mode. The only problem is that the bots are dumb as ****.

Fallout/Fallout 2: Post-apocalyptic PC RPGs, great atmosphere and writing, and plenty of humor.
Grim Fandango: Film-noir style adventure game set in the Mexican Land of the Dead. Again, great atmosphere, writing, and humor, along with some really cool characters and a ton of style.
You can probably find those in a bargain rack at Wal-Mart or Best Buy for $10 each or less, and they're more than worth it if you haven't played them.
Right now I'm playing Thief and System Shock 2 when I have time, and enjoying the hell out of both even though I haven't gotten very far in either. I'd also suggest downloading zSNES and some roms; there're more great SNES games out there than anyone could ever play.

NeverWinter Nights - the original and the 2 supplements are great and there are a myriad of additional modules made by people all over.
and nothing beats the classics of Diablo and Diablo II for sheer hack and slash.

Nah, those two are WAY too graphic intensive for my Tandy 1000.

I downloaded Adventure.
Yes, I'm still bad at it.
You fall into a pit and break every bone in your body!

anyone remember A Bard's Tale?
i played this game (and still have the two dozen or so maps to prove it!) back in 1992, just prior to joining the fledgling JediMUD. it was a faithful recreation of AD&D rules set in a fairly straight forward puzzle-solving world.
as a result, when offered a choice of hometown on the jediMUD character creation screen, i chose Skara Brae.
( of course, one of the first zones i wandered into was greza, and after some handwringing, LSD helped me get my paltry warrior's eq back. )

I play MAD SNES, Final Fantasy 3 NTC (3 PAL and 6 JAP). It's the best ever Esspecialy Version 1.0 Cartrage and not the 1.1, and The Legeand of Zelda. I play some Ultima Online once in a while (2D only). If I play an RPG it has to be Text, Block, or Sprite. I hate these damned 3D RPGs.
Other than that I play Tribes 2 (First Person Shooter), Resident Evil (Currently playing out break), Silent Hill (Just beat 3rd), and any thing I put in my PS2 or Linux Hacked XBox (till I broke it, during chip upgrades do not burn your finger with the sodering iron and drop the iron on to the XBox motherboard and not pick it up for like 1.5 minutes... Not good at all).
