So now that the game is down, I figured that it's a good time for us all to discuss the recent changes in Rhyoden, because Kailyn has stated that it is not permanent and with intellectual arguments, certain things can be changed. Also, if the general census is unhappiness, it may return to its original state. Alot of us have posted on the in game boards and I have posted more than once actually. Here is a recap. People were complaining that the ghostly soldiers fled at too high a hp and chasing after them constantly and killing them was not worth the experience and gold. So, Kailyn had it changed whereby they did not flee. Unfortunately, they were originally aggressive but wimpy so that they would not hit you unless you were sleeping. Now that they are not wimpy, they hit you like the lieutenants do. Again, unfortunately, they are not evil, they are neutral, so using pfe or pfg does not work and the zone is very aggro. I'm assuming this was not changed in one of the recent downtimes already and even if it has, we can still discuss possibilities. Clearly, right now, the zone is too aggressive. There are soldiers in almost every room and they hit relatively hard. One possibility is making them evil, which can slightly change the theme of the zone, and modifying some descriptions to fix this. Another is to return them to normal. Other ideas are to lessen the number of them in the zone and keep the zone the way it is now. Do you have any ideas? There are lots that can be done so if you think you know something, tell the admins what to do! Coda, Aneyou etc etc

Without having a whole lot of experience running the zone, with most of my knowledge of the zone and its characters coming from the quest I ran last January, I have this to say regarding the soldiers: I don't think they should be evil or aggro. Given that Siawyn has been 'redeemed'--i.e. he's no longer being held sway by any evil will--his soldiers should follow suit and be less prone to aggression or depravity (evilness). However, removing one of the dangers of the zone (wimpy = no sleeping for regen except a few rooms which have closeable doors) will make it even easier for anybody and their monkeys' uncles to dominate the zone and its mobs. I'd sure love to have ever more BO rings, but I just don't think the changes are justified.
What I think -would- make sense is to add banzai flags to the soldiers. In any other military, a soldier won't just stand there and watch his buddies get attacked without trying to defend them, unless they're French. I think that between banzai and wimpy flags, Rhyoden will start to earn more of the reputation of a city of war than it currently has. To offset this, I think there should be one or two more items added to the zone, albeit not on the level of arcanes or phearts. Something like a +dam belt or maybe some int/mana neckwear. Increased difficulty for a slightly increased reward would not be a bad idea for Rhyoden, which isn't run very much except by mages and bards for BO rings.
So, that's my 2 cents.

I think that Antessima, though lacking in experience on the zone , makes alot of sense. Firstly, it does make sense for soldiers to assist anyone else who's being attacked in the zone, because even though they're dead, they are still living in there with those guys - sergeants, lieutenants, cyro etc etc. I pretty much know the zone inside out because its a relatively small zone but it would make it slightly more challenging, for example being hit by the aggro lieutenants could be worse because of assisting soldiers, and taking on cyro could be annoying cause it takes a while, but this is definitely an affordable challenge. Its worth it compared to them all being aggro. Also, them hitting sleepers is completely fine as well. I think what we need to look at, honestly, is the original reason for the change. Some mudders had an issue with them fleeing(like the little Bit-ches they are - the soldiers, not the mudders) so Kailyn removed their wimpy flag. What I think should be done is just to drastically lower their wimpy, so they flee at say 1 or 2% hp's. This way, you can chase after them and kill them in like one or two room moves...not the rediculous amount it was before. Try this out and see if it satisfies those dissatisfied mudders. Coda, Aneyou blah blah

ok...on rhyo....hmmm....i have read all of the ideas people have tossed up...and there are some damn good ideas and opinions out there....i guess i think that we should just leave the whole damn zone aggro...BO's are WAY to easy to solo...lets make it more of a challenege....BO's are worth it IMO....anyways....there is my dollar after taxes (taxes = .$98)

Well why not create something totally new in order to create a challenge for one of the best rings in the game, while returning it to a nice exp zone for magical classes? Returning the soldiers to the previous state would be great, although I dont think adding an assist flag for the lieutenants and sergeants all in all is worth it. Most of the soldiers proally would rather spit on the sergeants and lieutenants vrs helping em! I know Id spit on Tarbal if I saw him being attacked! Anyways something to add into the zone to add more challenge into running Quagar is add a proc similar to Kailyn's old summon proc. Quagar on being attacked summons in lieutenants and sergeants to rescue him. That way Quagar is still soloable, yet he is a lil more annoying to run unless you clean the sergeants and lieutenants first and if you miss one or 2 in the zone its a lil more fun to finish doing quagar. That way its not just o f hit quagar;ungroup;sleep
