Aight... so I saw someone's post on the board regarding Cedar Point. As a 17-year-old kid, it would be hard to convince the 'rents to allow me to go hang out w/ complete strangers that I only know as 'One' or 'Corb' or 'ThatSchmuckNamedTam' or whatever... but I want to do it... couple of ?'s though...
1) What is the cost for doing this (park/bbq/anything I can't think of right now...)?
2) Why is it restricted to a few weekends? Is that when the park is open?
3) Is there any interest in people attending, or would it just be 3 or 4 people?

Basically when CP gets arranged, Aiela usually picks a weekend that fits most people. Aiela also typically picks out a nice place to stay that will accomodate several people. The times I ended up going, it was either someones house (which wont happen again), a campground (which was really fun), or this funky place where you slept in a couple kabooses. Normally here's what happens: Friday: Some people meet up at Aiela's lodging place others happily stay at their own accomodations. Saturday: Breakfast and everyone meeting at Cedar Point (by the Raptor/Bathrooms). Most people stay till the park closes. Most people seemed to go back to where ever they stayed Friday to crash. Sunday: Most people leave after breakfast. Others will go to the park again for a while. I would like to go, providing the cash is available. (Things have been a bit tight.) I -think- it costs something like $35 to get into the park. The cost of wherever Aiela finds for us to stay seems to depend on how many people are going (for group rates). Ok.. my last post for the evening. Time for bed. I hope that helped -Tam

Generally, for folks under 18, they've just met us at the park. Whoever makes the reservation for the campground is responsible for anyone under 18, and honestly, I don't want to be responsible if somebody gets busted doing something stupid, or for underaged drinking, or whatever. There have been exceptions, but they've been people I knew personally. But if we go, you're more than welcome to come hang out at the park with us on Saturday.

We -have- to go this year!
These past two years are the first two I've even had a snowball's chance in hell of going to, and it hasn't happened! I'm starting to think I smell bad or something!

If a sub-18 and the parents drop by the site, we prolly won't shoe you away:) You just may have to witness my trying to bribe the camp cop with Pringles and my using the f-bomb exclusively when I do something stupid. Which the parents may or may not like *blink*.

Any interest out there for a "Cedar Point West"? I can't see flying off to the east for a two days of debauchery in Tam's tiny apartment. Well, yes I can... But my wife can't.
So, anyway, how about those folks west of the Rockies.
Any interest in a little get together? I'm thinking San Francisco -- either Golden Gate Park, The Palace of Fine Arts, or somewhere in the Presidio.

Cedar Point is in Sandusky, Ohio, which is about halfway between Toledo and Cleveland. It's located right on Lake Erie, so there's a lot of tourism in the area not involved with the park itself. Some nice wildlife preserves and a lot of boating, at the very least. The park itself it pretty impressive. It's considered one of the best amusement parks in the nation by a great many people, mostly because of it's number one attraction... the roller coasters. Cedar Point boasts a goodly dozen really fast roller coasters, all different types and with different looks. If you've ever been on a really cool coaster somehere else, it's probably already been done at Cedar Point. In fact, they might have done it first. If you ever see a listing of the top 10 roller coasters in the US on the Travel Channel or someplace like that, you're going to see at least one of their coasters listed. If you want more information about Cedar Point, try their official web page. Www.cedarpoint.com looks pretty well put together, with lots of archival photos and some live web cams (admittedly, live cameras of an amusement park in northern Ohio in early March probably won't show you much).

Hmm... a job in marketing? No, I don't think so. I vowed as a child I'd never do anything that remotely resembled sales for a living.
I'm not seeing too much interest in this Cedar Point thread. It'd be a shame if the CP thing doesn't happen again this year. I doubt I could go anyway, with my two kids under the age of 3, but that doesn't mean none of the rest of you should have fun! ;D

Because of weather, I doubt Cedar Point '04 will go down... anyone planning yet for '05? I'll be 18 then, and I'd love to come up and actually get to meet some of the people that I spend the vast majority of my life getting insulted by/talking to. It seems that interest has dropped some in this, which is sad... but I'd still like to give it a try, if at all possible. -Nic

Shouldn't you be at college at 18? You can equally have conversations, be insulted and crucially, get laid (regularly) Despite all the mythical and semi-mythical talk of MUDsex (ugh) and meeting one's fellow Mudders, if you want some action then there are better mediums on the 'net (no, I'm not talking about the SIMS online either). Oh, you may genuinely wish to meet your fellow Mudders with no ulterior motives. <Snaps fingers> Didn't account for such a magnanimous attitude. I doubt if I will be able to make Cedar Point '05 as I'm sending my mother on Safari next year and resuming my abortive trip to Thailand are my real priorities. After that, and perhaps after I've obtained my accountancy qualification, I'll embark on my road-trip across the States. Cedar Point '06 anybody? Regards, Cordelia

Yeah I could see 06 for Cupcake and I maybe. I doubt 05 will work out for us, getting out of debit and paying off bills is my priority next year.
Then again Tam we may just need to plan a weekend to visit since were only a few hours away.
As for Griffon I agree with Cordelia go experience college, some of my fondest times are from there, then again I was a 4 year alcoholic in college that graduated with a 2.7 and lived for Mudding during the week and drinking for the weekend (its still a miracle I graduated with A GAP that high).
Then again I visited Pittsburgh, Ohio, Virgina to meet people during college and of course Alfred NY, to meet my current wife Cupcake. Fear that showing my age that was 4.0 on Stimpy, fear being a player from 3.6 under Onivel.

Hmmm....Cedar Point in '05. Since I assume that it happens during the summer (weather in OHIO), and that means winter down here, maybe Raq and I could swing it. Of course, if you make it in December, there is NO WAY I'm missing the beach in summer *grin*.
Pura Vida!

I am more than willing to (again) attempt to spearhead a Cedar Point Trip this summer.
May? June? July? August? Anyone have any preferences?
I like going in September, personally.

Hey Yall,
This would be my first year going to CP, and I would LOVE to go. This summer and fall I will be in college, BUT I can take a weekend off to go! But just find out when it is, and you can count me in!

I don't think me and Tam will be able to afford CP this year.
Perhaps we can plan something less cost-intensive with a few local people?
