Ok while sitting here replying to Dank's post, I was thinking if there is going to be any halloween quest. Would be nice to see a week long quest....I love running these since it's pretty much a good run for everyone and lots of people are usually here. Ghosts, goblins, ghouls and Danks to KILL!

lol amen to that. Holiday quests are a blast. I have no idea if there is one, let alone who if anyone might be planning it. Unless someone comes right out and announces it, its not always known until days away or days after. Still here's to hoping!

Another idea that I had that I mudmailed Kailyn was potentially doing a raffle for past Halloween items.
This would allow players the opportunity to win an item of the past.
Given that we may not be having a quest, I was thinking this may be something simple to have.

didn't hurin's halloween quest from last year (maybe the year before) have an item that gave you a chance at getting past items? i like the idea of giving out old relics, but it also kind of deflates the value of the ones that are in the game now, and it has the potential for putting more high end items into a game that some feel is already getting overpowered on eq. anyways....just some food for thought

As I recall, Rox, you had a chance at some past items last halloween with one of those coupons.
I for one don't like the awarding of old relics, especially for something as effortless as a raffle. I could see the altering of some relics and making them a prize in a new holiday quest but only if they're as difficult to obtain as the original or moreso. The old relics were won through effort, determination and sacrifice and thats how they should remain.

Well thats your fault. I tend to read the threads during downtimes for ideas. Not that I'm gonna run short for my projects.

I don't think giving away 1 additional of something in game which only has maybe 5 in game will dilute the value.
Agree that people took effort to run them when the quest was on which I was part of and understand how difficult it is.
This however gives someone who may not have the chance to run or don't have anything to trade for them an opportunity to own something.
My 2 cents anyway - it's similar to having a raffle to get a char with extra hp/mana which would be almost impossible to get in future. We know majority of classes have gains shafted etc. ;D

Ehh I don't think giving out a few pieces devalue's it all that much - probably makes the price go up since folks all of a sudden think something just might be available, so they pull out all the stops to strike while the iron is hot so to speak.

Couldn't disagree more. Its the complete opposite of supply and demand that people know plays a big factor in the game. The only reason people feel some gear isn't available is because its collecting dust on inactive players that only show up during kleens. If they really wanted to trade for it, they'd make an offer that couldn't be refused.

i think another thing is the prestige of the relic eq items....if there is a chance of getting them again in the future, it kind of takes away the uniquness of the original!
'hey...i have not seen the rockbreaker or old porb logged into the game for 2 years, lets just go ahead and give them both out again!'

The old porb is logged in and polished up several times a week. No idea on the Rockbreaker. It's a unique item in itself, but certainly less powerful than an Lbolt which goes for about 40M on auction.
Gambler.

you really think bolt is more powerful? i mean, rockbreaker is pretty awesome...i still think it is one of the coolest weapons in the game....heavily restricted.....but very useful!

Hmmmm rockbreaker... last logged during the kleen.
I gotta agree with Tarbal on this one. Bolts are ok but everyone and their freakin grandmother has an lbolt now. I'd much rather be sporting the Rockbreaker, its far cooler and has some really deadly affects on it.

Unfortunately I have never seen a Rockbreaker before but sure it must have looked awesome. Too bad - cannot rename a bolt to rockbreaker or something cool.

the greatsword named 'Rockbreaker' - 9d3 3dam 5hpregen perma_pfg. - ARTIFACT
From what I heard back in the day, it was designed to be paired with the 'Sword of Power, Demonsbane' which is a nicely diced 3dam 2hit perma_pfe wieldable/holdable.

Afraid not. I don't have either of them actually, was just recalling the stats offhand. I've never seen the Demonsbane description, just in use. Rockbreaker I can't remember enough to do it justice.

Well Marco has the Rockbreaker as everyone knows.
Demonsbane is currently not posessed by anyone. As I recall within the last year a group had a chance at it in a complex prize-tier gauntlet but they never made it past the second room. So its still up for grabs, if someone can get a CIMP to approve it and then somehow manage to win it.

Marco was a wicked player too, was and still is a clanmate actually. One of the best bards ever and a pretty solid guy in general.
